Durango, Colorado

Distance for the day: 348.7 km

Cumulative distance: 6143.3 km

Top speed: 116 kph

Moving average: 85 kph

Temperature: 22.6 - 37.4

Leaving Santa Fe, a great deal is done to beautify the city.

Riding to Durango today, there was lots to see,
especially as we were saying goodbye to New Mexico.

These were some of the best views we had of New Mexico. Right along a seldom used road, wishing us goodbye.

This marked the end of our time in New Mexico. We were seeing snow again, the first time since.... CALIFORNIA!

A favourite subject for Nan: murals, of which there are many.

Our home for two nights. This is another old road motel just having gone through a reno. It is a passion project of a sweet young couple hoping to make something of it. Rooms are all re-done. Get this: they stripped out the decades old carpet and left the floor as cement, which we thought was brilliant. Best pillows we have slept on since we left home.

We went for dinner in Durango, Colorado and a restaurant had the AUDACITY  to serve a "Howie Burger'!

Not Nan's finger,  FYI.

What THEY called a "Howie Burger"! Pikers.

  2. Dear Anonymous, Shiprock is in Mesa Verde National Monument, where we were today. Sadly, it was not visible due to haze in the air. We tried to see it through a telescope but it couldn't cut the California fog that had drifted over the area and the road that would have taken us close was closed for maintenance.
